Did the Cards and Bucs switch uniforms???

Whats going on here?  Pittsburgh sweeps the Astros with 3 one run games, and the Cards get blown out at home, not just blown out, but made to look like, well the Pirates.  In the three game series in St. Louis, the Mets outscored the Cards, 20-2, thats right, 20-2.  That is eyepopping unbelievable.  Pujols is good for 2 runs a game, let alone the whole team scoring 2 the entire series.  The Mets are good, but not this good.  The Cards are certainly better than this.

Pittsburgh in first place, usually they are making golf reservations by now.  Laroche has not been a factor either.  He is 1-12 with 6K’s.  Nice.  BUt really, the Bucs managed to put together a respectable second half last year.  Maybe they will be a little competitive, hey they’re in first place the deepest into the season they’ve ever been going back to the We Are Family era.

Is there a hotter player than Miguel Cabrera?  Wow. 7-10 5 runs, 2 doubles, 2 HR’s 6RBI, but most impressive to me is 5/1 BB SO ratio.  Its a shame they collapsed late against the Nats yesterday, sweeping them with the Phils coming to town would have been huge.

Congrats to the White Sox for keeping the Indians down to 8 runs, good job fellas.  Was there any pitching in Detroit yesterday.  It was one of those days in the bullpens when the phone rings and you go to the bathroom or grimace because that inflamed elbow is acting up again.  Brutal.

What a game in Philly  last night.  It turned out to be a great pitchers duel.  Hamels outpitched Hudson, barely.  7IP 2 hits, 1 ER 5K’s but 4 BB, only mistake was giving up a homer to Ruiz in the 5th.  But Hamels was better, believe it or not.  7IP, 4 hits, 0ER and 8K’s.  Couldn’t go wrong with either guy.  I look for both of these guys to be real good all year.

Well today we have an abbreviated schedule, which means the circus that is DiceK will take center stage.  He makes his debut in Kansas City in a 2:10 Eastern game.   Not sure what to expect, his first start may be, say, dicey, but it helps he’s going against the Royals.  Should be interesting.  Keep an eye on Buehrle today.  Here’s a guy that was dominant 2 years ago and somehow lost it.  I expect a bounce back year and it starts today.

Thats it for today, keeps those posts coming on the message board.  Until then…
